
Each "Retablo" tells a story, it represents one of the traditional dances of Peru:"Danza de tijeras" which translates to "The dance of the scissors", a ritual dance, which takes the form of a competition.
It is danced during the dry season of the year and its performance coincides with important phases of the agricultural calendar.<
The "Retablo" consists of a rectangular wooden box whose doors are decorated with floral motifs. Inside the box, the scenes are composed of figurines made from pasta made from boiled and ground potatoes, mixed with plaster until the desired plasticity is obtained, once dried, they are colored.
